Intro to Tech Sales
I have been in tech sales for the last 12 years. This is before SaaS was even a thing. I feel like a dinosaur. š
I put this guide together because I often see people especially on twitter (here is my twitter btw) talk about how they want to ābreak into techā and they are often discussing technical roles which quite frankly require a great deal of technical knowledge and isnāt suitable for everyone. They are also an extremely hard part of technology to get into right now though it was a lot easier in the past.
This is why I put together this guide to teach people about the how they could get into tech through their sales teams.
Technology systems are complex and often need someone to guide a prospect through their buying process. This is where tech sales professionals come in.
In this guide I go into:
- What entry level roles look like, and how much it pays. A realistic picture of what youād be expected to do everyday.
- How to make your current experience relevant to sales for the purposes of making your CV / profile attractive to hiring managers.
- How to appear at the top of the most job posts and ensure your application is seen by a human being.
- How is your career going to proceed, at what stages and how much you should be earning along the way in how long. This isnāt a get rich quick scheme, and is a career.
- How much you should expect to earn as a base (commission is varied) at different points throughout your career. You should start off on £40k+ and typically caps out at £130k
Iāve placed some screenshots of those who have already road the guide and sharing their opinions.
Warning: this guide is designed for people who are considering a career change and/or want to transition into tech. If this isnāt you then please donāt buy as youāll be wasting your money.
